Christmas Day

One of us went to the patisserie at 8 am in the dark for Christmas breakfast supplies. Though probably shouldn't complain as where else in the world would such a shop be open on Christmas Day.

It was pastries and baguette and raspberries, all washed down with a very nice champagne, French of course.

The traditional Christmas morning swim at the beach was replaced by a walk in the Bois de Bologne. We weren't tempted by the ice skating, although gave them top marks for themed decoration.

It was then back for serious lunch preparations. This involved further stuffing of the goose...

...plus opening the oysters.

After 3 hours of cooking we made a start. Oysters with more champagne...

..escargots...

...veggie stars...

...amuse bouches....

..and the piece de resistance, the goose and all the trimmings..

..then an ice cream bouche de Noël

That pretty much stopped us, so it was off a long walk to aid the digestion then an evening watching the movie The Martian.
