Back to the Maldives

The guys I went surfing with to Nuigini decided to go on a Maldives surf trip and I got an invite.

It was back to Dhonveli Island with the well known Pasta Point surf break. Dhonveli is about 13 km by boat north from the capital, Male, and the airport

We were given the 4 th bungalow to the right of the Sunset Bar

Pasta Point surf break is readily identified from this aerial photo

Arriving..

...at the boat harbour.

Our accommodation for the week

..with water views.

This is Pasta Point surf break

Our dining restaurant...

..next to the bar overlooking the surf.

The surf wasn't great with strong onshore winds and rain squalls. We went out across the channel at Sultans, but it was very crowded

A snorkelling trip was offered as an alternative

In the afternoon Pasta Point cleaned up enough for a surf, but alas, small waves breaking close to the reef and a bit too much bravado led to a badly damaged ski.

This was day 1 and I thought it was all over for the week. But thanks to liberal amounts of duct tape it was useable

One of the very few moments of sunshine and reasonable conditions. Still a crowd though

The results of the storm, not pretty!

With more bad conditions we opted for some fishing

And for me, scuba diving with Hugh and Ann

Plus you could also relax by the lagoon

Only 2 more days to go. Fingers crossed for some better surfing conditions but the forecasts aren't great
