Swindon and surrounds

After flying from Singapore to London, Gill and Tony Nye met us at Heathrow and off we went to their home in Swindon

Swindon generally gets a bad wrap in England, a lot of people picturing streets like this..

...but the Old Town where Gill and Tony live has a completely different character.

This is our “home” in Swindon..

...and the city has one feature that is particularly noteworthy, the so called “magic roundabout” - terrifying in our opinion

The blossom carpet in the town gardens was quite spectacular

After settling in, it was off for some adventures. Firstly a Treasure Trail around nearby Devizes

A visit to West Woods to see the bluebells, with lots of rapeseed in bloom along the way

Plus this interesting grass

This was followed by lunch at Rick Steins in Marlborough

Lots of flowering chestnut trees around town also

Some people were being naughty between courses!

We also did a walk at Great Bedwyn
