Hiroshima to Kyoto

We had another morning in Hiroshima before heading out. We had spied a boulangerie at was fast becoming our most visited spot in Hiroshima, Pacela shopping complex...

...and we decided on another blow out - enough fish for breakfast.

We then went back to the castle park and visited the Castle museum. It showed how the castle was built literally on a sandbank, and had samurai exhibits. The samurai armour was spectacular..

It was then a slow stroll back to the hotel via Hiroshima's main Shinto shrine - Gokoku..

...where one of the priests was presumably blessing a new truck.

We dropped in to a few department stores. Nothing too inspiring, except maybe for this display of fans in one store.

We left about midday for Kyoto, passing Hameji and getting brief glimpses of its fantastic castle (photo courtesy of Google).

It was only 2 hrs to Kyoto..

..but we had to get a local train to our Airbnb accommodation a bit west of downtown.

It was a 15 minute walk from the local station and we were met at the local kindergarten, where it was obviously pick up time.

It was only 100 metres from there to our house in this lovely little street..

Inside was very typical of a small older style Japanese house, even coming with bikes..

...and it had everything you need, including a proper bed..

..a nice lounge area...

..a fully fitted kitchen...

..and a little garden.

We settled in and hit the supermarket for supplies before going back to the Kyoto station area for dinner. It was bustling, with Kyoto Tower dominating the night sky.

We had a tempura set for dinner, curiously bits and pieces coming at different times. It want our best meal, but it filled the hole.
