...before arriving at our next stay, Kooljaman Resort.
We had booked beach shelters, the first night in Gnibe
..with great views over the beach..
..and the eastern beach cliffs..
at sunset.
The next morning we moved along the beach to Umago, just in time for some low tide snorkel fishing (that's where you go snorkelling with a handling and when you see a nice fish you dangle the line in front of it - in this case a nice spangled emporer)
There was plenty of time for swimming given the temperature was about 33 degrees..
...plus more photos opportunities as the tide dropped.
The real drawcard though is the red cliffs on the western beach, this is it from above..
..then the evening on the beach
On our last day we did a 4WD tag along trip with Brian Lee, one of the senior locals. After some historical information at a midden..
....headed out along the eastern beach...
...stopped for a swim...
..and then at Hunter Creek...
..for some fishing, a flathead...
..and five spotted cod...
...the locals used more traditional means...
..plus some crabbing using a long metal hook...
..even venturing into the mangroves proper..
...where we found this monster just sitting on top of the mud..
...and another.
What else to do then, but cook 'em and eat 'em.
Then it was all aboard for the trip home
