The country was mostly quite flat and very dry. However as we approached the coast we hit the hills, a portent of what is to come on our walk. This is the town of Bergara where Amelia stayed for a few months.
We are staying in Hotel Niza right on the main beach of San Sebastián, Playa de la Concha. Even scored a 6th floor sea view room. This is the view that greeted us from our room.
Furthermore the hotel had a certain charm, the lift for example.
We were quickly down for a swim and a laze on the beach (that's the hotel in the background, we are top floor RH window)
Amazing watching the passing parade. All shapes and sizes and lots of very pregnant young women.
We wandered around to the old town, stopping for ice cream on the way of course.
Lots of character in the old town
We came across a game of pelota
Plus were entertained by school kids walking pied piper style through the streets to the main plaza ( ex bull ring) where they put on an amazing traditional dance show.
We strolled back along the beach, still packed at 7 pm!
Dinner was at the well rated Narru Restaurant. Of course arriving at 8:45 meant we were the first in...
Best mussels Julie has ever had, with our now go-to wine, Albariño.
Caramelised slow cooked pork main was pretty special, and the desserts didn't disappoint.
Then to cap it off, we had this amazing view from our room when we returned at 10:30 pm.....still twilight!!!
