Today we left Puglia and drove to Matera in Basilicata. Problem was it was hot again and we couldn’t check in to our hotel til 3 pm. Solution, head for a beach. The beach in question was San Pietro in Bevagna, recommended by our hotel.

We stayed at the beach so long everything was shut in the little villages but we did find an open supermarket and made very passable bread rolls which we ate in the car’s air conditioned comfort!
