A day exploring Lecce old town. It’s style is 17th century Baroque, but with its own twist, so there is a recognised Barocco Leccese
But first breakfast, by chandelier
Heading out For the morning. The access opening to the courtyard parking not for the faint hearted
The piece de resistance Bassilica Di Santa Croce - unfortunately scaffolded so we got a look alike facade
Palazzo dei Celestine
Another church
And another
One of the original city gates - Porta San Biagio
Also two impressive Roman amphitheatres
A castle with archeological ruins and a 14th century olive press
Some general street scenes
And an escape from the heat
We spent the middle of the afternoon in the a/c in our room, heading out again early evening
We decided on a low key dinner in the old town
But then had a craving for tiramisu, so hit another restaurant
Before taking in the night time scenery
Back for limoncellos on the rooftop terrace and off to bed.
