A fascinating drive today, around the NE slopes ofMt Etna, to a fortress hill town and down to the coast at Cefalu.
Firstly breakfast in Taormina
Then up through the villages on Mt Etna slopes
Lots of flowering cassia
And lava fields
Etna smoking behind the wildflowers
A stop on Randazzo village
Looking back to Randazzo
We were then taken on some amazing narrow and scenic byroads by our somewhat misguided car navigation system..
..to the hilltop village of San Marco D’Alunzo
Down to the coast and along the autostrata to Cefalu and our accommodation at Hotel Kalura
After a swim, we walked in to Cefalu old town, buzzing with tourists
We had dinner at Masquenada restaurant
Then strolled home in the late evening light
A pop art distraction
