Around Cefalu

A lazy beach day today, with clearer sunny weather forecast. We had a great buffet breakfast at the hotel, noticing for the first time some interesting hanging art in the hotel lobby.

It was then down to the water for the morning - a mere 163 steps down from the lobby

We decided we wanted arancini for lunch, and Google found for us the best in Cefalu. It involved a walk in to town, but at a slow pace this was OK despite the early afternoon heat

Up a side street was the small unassuming Peccati Di Gola, run by a lovely lady who made the arancini herself. We couldnt stop at one each they were so good

We checked out the beach, one of the finest in Sicily according to all the guides, we decided we liked the clean, clear uncrowned sea at our hotel better

Looking east towards the old town

The expanse to the west

Next stop was the Cathedral to view the frescos, some of the finest in Sicily and dating from the 12 th century

Gelatos were next on the menu

A hot walk back to the hotel, another swim, then cocktails on the terrace

Dinner was at La Tavernatta on the harbour

Char grilled octopus on a saffron potato mash

Hand made pasta with swordfish, eggplant, tomato and mint
