Portland 4T trail

The plan for the day was to do the Portland 4T trail - a trek, a  tram, a trolley and a train. We would start at Oregon zoo and do the trek (green), the the tram (blue - an oversized cable car), then the trolley (red) then the train (yellow) back to the zoo.

We started with breakfast out the back of Leslie and Sabrina’s house….

…. lots of birds about. Jays…

….and little chickadees

Then it’s was off for the trek - which was officially closed due to a landslide - we ignored this - and it turned out to be a non-event. It was a lovely forest walk

Ppp

Great views from the Council Crest Summit

Then down again

The Douglas Fir trees quite enormous

An unfortunate banana slug!

A house incorporating a huge tree

Unfortunately when we climbed again to the top of the trail we found the aerial tram didn’t run on Sundays, but this is what it would have looked like

We therefore taxied it downtown and walked part of the transport bridge

Where we got good views of the river and the submarine moored in front of the Maritime Museum

On to the trolley to Pioneer Square.

A “picnic” lunch in the square - a giant Reuben sandwich from a food truck for Bob

Back to the house via Wanker’s store for more booze

For dinner we headed to a local food truck food court

Saw two skunks crossing the road on our way home - first we’d ever seen.
