The river and the Petit Tsingy

We set of in a paired dugout down the river to see the canyon and "the ancestors graves". We got extra paddles for more power...

....stopped at a river side cave...

...were watched by some Madagascan pratincoles...

..and vasa parrots..

..all while taking in some pretty nice scenery through the gorge. The ancestors burial site proved  to be a ledge well above the river that we couldn't visit.

Then it was off to the Petit Tsingy

More squeezing..

..and ducking and weaving..

..before we worked our way to to the top...

..and the viewpoint..

..where we were joined by a spectacular Madagascar hoopoe.

Walking back through the forest we encountered this photogenic chameleon.

We had the rest of the day around the hotel and the village, where the market was in full swing.
