More Mauritius

It was G&Ts on the beach and a lovely sunset for our first evening at Le Morne.

The next day started with a dive trip for Bob, out beyond the reef to a Japanese fishing boat called Hoi Siong scuttled in 2003 to create an artificial reef. The ship was 30m long and was sitting upright on the sand in 28m of water.

It was quite an interesting dive poking around the wreck. The most interesting fish were this highly coloured painted frog fish...

...and a well camouflaged stonefish.

Everyone seemed happy when we returned, even more so when they passed around well made espressos!

After that it was back to the beach chairs til 3 when we went for a snorkelling trip inside the lagoon. The coral didn't have much colour, but there were plenty of small fish to look at.

The area was dominated by these somewhat aggressive small fish, probably a damselfish. In all our diving time we have never seen such a single species proliferation on a reef (and that is one swimming under Julie in the photo above).

This colourful specimen also caught our eye. The yellow was quite striking in the flesh.

Plus this sea slug, is it a nudibranch?

Anyway, a nice enough outing we will no doubt repeat, especially as it is included in our package at the resort.

It was back for excellent ice creams, then the free 4 pm crepes, then a Thai dinner that we didn't like and ended up getting refunded, then an outdoor movie at the beach. We have to give them full marks for effort.
