Hydra days

Our stay being mostly about lazing about, swimming and eating, we have five beaches (albeit pebble beaches) to choose from and something over 40 restaurants. Our mission is to visit most the beaches, and as many of the restaurants as we can.

Two of the beaches, Kamini and Vlykos are walkable from where we are staying, the others require a boat ride. We had a day at Bisti beach, on the far western edge of the island.

We caught a boat from the harbour...

..with nice views of the town as we left...

..and of our "off the rocks" swimming spot at Spilia restaurant as we headed out.

We got set up on the water's edge

and settled in for a days swimming, snorkelling and reading..

...with the occasional visit to the beach kiosk.

Dinner was at an Italian restaurant behind the port - Da Barba Dima....

...where we were watched over by the local cat.

Another day was spent at Kamini beach...voted number one for comfortable beach lounges and wifi access.

There was also a well rated restaurant, Kodylenia, a sort walk away - the white building in the background

Starters included marinated fresh sardine fillets - not popular with everyone...

...and beetroot salad

While mains were deep fried whole squid.

At the end of the outing we faced the inevitable walk back up to the house, passing the old house on Kamini harbour...

... and this time following some of the islands heavy transport - it's mules.
