Lyme Regis to West Bay

Another Jurassic Coast walk today, really discovering what it is all about.

We left the car at West Bay and bussed it to Lyme Regis...

..very popular coastal town, complete with beach sheds..

..that were more like little cabins

Apart from the beach, Lyme Regis is well known for the setting of Jane Austins Persuasion, and for The Cobb, where parts of the movie of The French Lieutenant's Woman were set.

It was a lovely day at the beach, a warm 19 deg!

We set off late morning on our walk...

..heading east past the sea cliffs

and soon got involved in the hunt for fossils, and there were lots

Eventually we tore ourselves away and got walking, easy along the beach..

..but then in to the roller coasters

Apart from the cliff and sea views, we passed through nice countryside..

..but it was mostly about the cliffs

One of the features of the walk is Golden Cap, at 191 m it is the highest peak on the south coast of England. Will we go up or round?

OK let's do it!

and the views were great

After the decent it was through a corn field and one more hill...

..before a welcome break at Seatown...

then the final push to West Bay

Later we decided on a pub dinner at the Ilchester Arms at Symondsbury, just out of Bridport

All good pub grub
