Then a quick explore of the town, quite touristy with some colourful creole locals.
Then it was off to Col des Boeufs for the start of our walk in the Haut Mafate, after a lunch stop in Le Grand Ilet.
From the carpark to the Col, we had great views over the Cirque de Salazie, the top right cloverleaf
Our walk was 4 days, 20 Kms only, but with serious ascents and descents.
Day 1 was an easy one, 4.5 km, 520 m descent to the village of La Nouvelle in the crater. This was the view at the start.
The views along the way were impressive to say the least, including the company
La Nouvelle was quite a busy spot, with lots of hikers
We stayed the night at Gite Yvonne Gravina, very cosy indeed.
