We were amazed when what we thought was a windsurfer off the beach turned out to be a whale
We then headed inland to a place Called La Fenetre, a viewpoint for the Cirque de Cilaos, reputedly to be so good you would remember it for the rest of your life. Well it was good, and if we look at the photos we will be sure to remember it.
Then back to the coast and a drive up the eastern side of the island, the dry, touristy, beachy side. We weren't that impressed, though there were some nice swimming spots. Got to St Leu, which has a famous surf break, but alas no waves, but some old salt works to visit.
Always an opportunity to photograph the girls of course.
Then it was up into the mountains for the climb of Piton de la Fournaise. The most active volcano on the island. We went to Gite du Volcan for the night. Unfortunately the mountains and Gite were covered in cloud and misty rain by the time we arrived. Hoping for better weather to follow.
