Against all expectations, our right of way path ended up in a harvested rape seed field with no track through. It was therefore a rape seed bash.
We emerged into a wheat field, but at least there was a tractor flattened path through it.
We soon after arrived at Abercastle harbour. The glorious sunshine and flat water was too enticing, and one of us decided it was time to break our duck and go for a swim in the Irish Sea.
A judged 15 deg C, almost pleasant!
We then headed out of Abercastle....
..along what was arguably the most scenic section of coast we had been on.
We were even inspired to stop for a selfie.
There were some distractions. A Small Tortoiseshell butterfly...
...a Magpie Moth...
..a field of flowering camomile...
...and carpets of wildflowers.
With cunning planning, it was then into Trefin to the Mill Cafe....
...for lunch.
Once more it was happy hour in the garden.
Then we drove to Aber Mawn, a nearby beach, to check it out.
We went on to the Farmers Arms pub for dinner...
..and then drove home by the back roads, taking on the limited visibility rather than risk the breathalyser on the main road - although given the terrible visibility on the roads, a line ball decision!
