Newgale to Solva walk and on to North Wales

Today we moved north from Broadhaven to near Fishguard, where we have a cottage booked for a week.

The cottage wasn't available til 3 pm, so we firstly did a 10 km walk from Newgale to Solva.

It was a steep climb up from Newgale beach, through heather and flowering gorse..

..but we were treated with excellent views.

It was then down-uppity for the rest of the walk..

...along the usual scenic coastline, riddled with yellow ragwort.

After an hour and a half we had distant views of Solva..

..then views down the harbour from "The Gribin" a promontory created by two ice age valleys and the site of an Iron Age fort.

We then drove to Haverfordwest, the main regional centre, to stock up on supplies...

...spotting an illusive black headed gull on the river.

We then drove to Rose Cottage, conveniently located between Fishguard and St David's, a prime walking area, although right on the road. We have the right hand half of the building, and have a big garden with summer house and BBQ.
