Flight to Simikot (3000m) and on to Dharapori (2610m) - 51/2 hrs walking

We were up at 4:16 for a 6:15 flight to Simikot

This is where our walk to Tibet starts. The town itself is pretty basic, but the surrounds are magnificent.

We had breakfast at the Kailash Hostel, then loaded up..

..took the compulsory team photo...

..and headed of for Dharapori, half way to Kermi.

It didn't take long to get above Simikot

and into the real Nepal

We had an extended lunch stop in a small hamlet..

...Helen had a 10 m fall off the edge of the track, and all things considered, got off very lightly with some bumps on her head and a gash on her leg. Satish treated the wounds as well as would have been done anywhere.

Helen soldiered on and we passed through more great scenery

We had a lovely campsite at Dharepori...

..where we formally met all the team, 4 staff, 15 mules, 3 mule drivers, and 5 temporary helpers...

..and ate the usual great meal cooked by Khem.
