Day 2 The Snares

It was just an overnight trip to The Snares, jutst south of Stewart Island

Zodiac tours were planned for late afternoon, in the meantime, lunch….

…and island and bird watching

A Cape petrel

Albatross

Endemic Snares penguin with signature red bill…

…plus huge rafts of sooty shear waters, small diving petrels, Atlantic gulls, kelp gulls and skuas.

As the time for zodiac touring approached the expedition team set out to assess the conditions

…and we started organising our outdoor gear

Then we were off in the zodiacs to explore around the islands

Amazing numbers of birds, seals and sea lions, bull kelp and penguin colonies

..a breakdown that was fortunately resolved

Our zodiac route

And to complete the evening, some entertainment from the france group
