Cruise day 8 - Assumption Island

Today we spent at Assumption Island. A full day of snorkelling and swimming.

Assumption Island is still part of the Aldabra Group of the Seychelles

Beautiful deep blue and aguamarine waters awaited as the crew set up a back pontoon loading…

.. and a welcoming area on the beach

Even live guitar music on landing (for those with a keen eye)

It didn’t take long to gear up and hit the water

This time we were treated to great visibility and lots of fish to see. We didn’t have an underwater camera but found these photos on the Internet which give a good representation of the underwater landscape - not all the fish though.

It was back on board for lunch after a couple of hours at the beach. Main station was deconstructed bao buns with rice noodles

In the afternoon it was back to the beach for more snorkelling and swimming with wandering barmen offering rum punch and beers.

Back on deck there was time for a quick dip in the ships pool….

… with a cocktail of course…

…and a well stocked afternoon tea spread

A special Australian table was organised for tonight’s dinner. There were 15 of us. Total number of passengers 153, and 18 nationalities in total

After, another show, this time pop music including the Spice Girls
