Today we drove to Cesis in Latvia stopping in Parnu on the way
There were lots of storks along the way, this one having a particularly impressive nest and two chicks (one just visible)
Parnu is a coastal city with a charming old town and a wide beach that is a major attraction in summer. Plenty of photogenic buildings and streetscapes
Flowers in abundance…
.. and street art
The beach itself, no swimmers yet
We then drove down the Baltic coast and stopped briefly at one of the access areas, no real appeal at the moment
Entering Cesis we passed a riverside park that was a launching point for canoe trips down the Gauja river. They also had barrel shaped camping cabins, this mobile one with its own sauna
Our overnight stop in Cesis was in the old town
Again, plenty of photogenic houses in the old town.
More brick buildings in Latvia than Estonia
A Russian Orthodox Church…
… and a 13th century castle
A little cafe in the castle grounds
