Our flight to Helsinki (with connections to Sydney) wasn’t til the early evening so we had time to explore Vilnius a little more. We had breakfast at a lovely small cafe. Below is their version of Turkish eggs
First off we strolled over to the artist area of Uzupis again, even the view along the river had church steeples in the background
“Official” border control entering the area - you can even get a stamp in your passport here!
An old map of the area
More street artwork
We then headed back to the two churches of St Anne and St Francis of Assisi which were open for visitation
Inside St Anne’s a service being held

Then into the St Francis church, built in the 16th century
Wall frescos still in good order…
.. and an amazing cloister with frescos and wooden sculptures
Mini Lithuanian houses in a craft shop window
Amber is huge in the Baltics with several hundred tonnes still mined every year. We finally relented and went to one amber museum
It was a great display, including a number of pieces with insects preserved inside
the shopping a bit overwhelming
And what better way to end a trip around the Baltics than pizza in the square

What a day of colour and interest. A fascinating city. A wonderful trip!
