WELL, due to fog at Svalbard our charter flight couldn’t land so after lots of false starts we ended up flying to Rovaniemi in northern Finland (actually Lapland). The plan was to stay overnight there and fly on to Helsinki the next day.
Rovaniemi is where Santa lives and the whole towns economy seems to be based on that - Santa’s Doner Kebab, Santa’s gift shop, Santa’s Hotel, etc etc etc

We were put up at the very modern Arctic City Hotel
All we had time for was a quick stroll in the centre of town. It was very modern, having been destroyed in the Second World War.
