Julie's feet not good so we decided to bus this section (17 km and 20 min by bus, or 5 hours mostly road walking). Started with breakfast at the Hostal
Our room at Hotel Mar was not ready when we arrived so we walked into the old town for coffees...
...and a look around. A number of impressive buildings like the Palaccio de Sobrellano...
...the Inglesia de San Cristobal...
...and Capilla-Panteon, built to house the crypts of the first Marquis of Comillas' sons.
We met Meg and Mark on their way in, and soon settled down for lunch.
It was bouquerones ajillo (fresh anchovies in boiling garlic butter), at the suggestion of our waitress...
...then mountain stew, a must try regional dish from Cantabria...
...and everyone tucked in to good hearty food.
Siesta was certainly called for after all this food, then it was off to see Gaudi's house.
This was one of the first buildings designed and built by Gaudi, in the 1880's, and one of only three Gaudi buildings outside Barcelona. It was surrounded by magnificent hydrangeas..
...and Gaudi is eternally admiring his work.
Time for a little window shopping..
In the evening there was a Pincho festival..
....with a good crowd...
...and some traditional Cantabrian music.
