After breakfast we drove to the shores of Lake Chomo for a boat trip out onto the lake.
We were promised hippos and crocodiles and lots of birds - and it delivered
First sighting was a sea eagle and its nest with chicks
Then came the crocs..
...and these were BIG Nile River crocodiles
The local fishermen didn't seem concerned
..about them or the hippos
The bird life was prolific, Goliath herons
Marabou storks
A yellow billed stork
Egyptian geese
Flocks of great white Pelicans
A Verreaux's eagle
Vultures
But only one beached croc at the "Crocodile Market"
We then drove on through lush green countryside into the Konso tribe area. There were lots of photo opportunities along the way.
The usual busy shared roads..
Lots of village bee hives in the trees
Fascinating small rural communities
We had lunch in Konso village at Kansa Lodge
Then continued driving, with eventually views down to the Omo valley...
..these to be avoided
The villages became more basic..
..and we saw more birds, a Von der Deckers hornbill...
...and a go-away bird
We stopped at Kayafar village for the weekly market. The people were from the Hamer, Bana and Ari tribal groups. Again the cameras worked overtime
There were souvenir sellers for the tourists as well
And like all tribal get together S, afterwards everyone gets on the local brew
As we departed we came across these enterprising guys, 25 cents per photo.
Then after another pretty drive..
