Simien highlands trek - Day 2

Today we walked 17 km from Sankavar to Geech.

The views continued to be spectacular, though still hazy

With more lovely flowers

But the feature was views and more views

There were klip springer antelope

Distant views of walia ibex

Butterflies

Waterfalls

Soaring Ruppels vultures

Willing locals with horses for the steeper climbs, plus always souvenir sellers

We came back onto the road and met our team with our camping gear

And locals doing it the easy way

At a hilltop viewpoint we were entertained by a busking local

Plus some of his fans

On we went

Til we eventually made our camp for the night at Geech

There were lots of birds around this camp, including thick billed Ravens

A tawny eagle

Turtle doves

A brightly coloured weaver

And a ground scraper thrush

As usual, the boys were "hard at it" in the cooking hut
