Simien highlands trek - Day 3

Our final days trek was from Geech to Chenek, about 20 kms and crossing our high point of 4075 m

We started off through fields of giant lobelia

Then along an escarpment

To the high point of the walk in partial mist

But there to be rewarded with a sighting of the rare endemic Ethiopian wolf. It is estimated there are only about 200 still in existence and only 70 in the park.

We then headed down towards Chenek

Sighting a lamergeyer, or bearded vulture, on the ground

Before arriving at our camp

After settling in we drove higher up the mountain and found a small heard of walia ibex

Sunset that evening was quite lovely

As was moonset the following morning
