Today we visit Greenland’s capital Nuuk, population about 18,000, but growing and soon to have a new international airport.
We were shuttled in to town, and walked down to the old part of town
Next stop was the National Museum of Greenland with excellent Inuit history and artifacts
Then a sculpture by the sea
More city and surrounds views…
…including the new developments changing the character of the town.
We then had a programmed event at the Cultural Centre (in the centre of the photo)…
…with a mask dance…
…and local food including dried fish, seal blubber and local beer.
Of the three, the beer was very good, the fish not really to our taste and the seal blubber quite disgusting
Next some shopping and strolling. The girls checked out the qiviut (musk ox wool). Amazing soft stuff but over the top in price.

Did you watch the series Borgen on Netflix? Nuuk looks quaint. Not sure about the high rise though. Big bottoms on those Inuit dancers. Hope the echo sounders have turned up.
