Paris - New Years Day

After a sleep-in and light breakfast, we went for a walk through the Bois de Bologne. It was 4 deg when we started. We walked passed one of the original metro stations....

...and a nice garden by a lake...

...with its resident grey heron.

The woods proper we quite stark, not an evergreen in sight.

Adams sister arrived from London and we headed out to one of our favourite restaurants "Au Bon Acceuil" near the Eiffel Tower. It was still quite cold, and this sort of scenery didn't help!

The food certainly didn't disappoint.

Including this amazing chestnut based soup..

...the lamb dish..

..the veal dish...

...and great desserts.

We then walked along the Seine, passing a life sized blue whale...

...the Bateau Mouche doing a roaring trade...

..and stopping for a photo opportunity on Pont Alexander III.

We then headed up to th Belleville area where we met up with our friend Albert from Rennes and went to a local bistro for a light dinner. This dish hit the spot, tuna smoked in pecan nut, fois gras, and avocado washed down with 3 € pints of beer.
