After Ponant and the other lodges, we are too scared to go anywhere near any scales!
So, we set off in the safari vehicle pre-dawn, with a full moon..
..searching, searching for lions or leopards
We had no luck there but did see a few things, mostly birds, such as this magnificent long tailed paradise wyhdah..
...a flock of bee-eaters..
...a jackal..
...some giraffe..
..a very pretty lilac breasted roller..
...flocks of wire tailed swallows..
..hippos..
..white faced whistling ducks..
..vervet monkeys...
..a tawny eagle..
We saw very little new on the boat cruise, these Impala eating soil by the river to get minerals..
..and a very sick hippo by the riverbank...
..and a Namibian in a proper wooden mokoro
This is why afternoon tea should not be missed!
Back in the vehicle for our evening game drive. Soon classic Africa..
..then two new antelope for us - puku...
...a hippo with a baby..
..a glossy cape starling..
..then lots of entertainment watching a troop of baboons..
..big daddy not so cute.
We then drove down to/into the river..
...passing a squacco heron..
..then the coup de grace a group of elephants
..of which it was hard to stop taking photos, no zoom required.
Soon after it was sunset...
...but we had spent so much time watching the elephants, it was gin and tonics as we drove.
On going down for dinner we found the staff had arranged a special trea for us. Candlelit down by the river..

What is that on the plate in the foreground of the last photo??
