To Chobe National Park

We left about 9:00 am for our flight to Kasane where we transfer by road to Chobe Game Lodge.

We had excellent views over the Okavango Delta as we left..

..including mini islands being formed at the anthills

It was 70 minute flight to the NW of Botswana on the Chobe River which forms the border between Botswana and Namibia.

The Chobe River was in flood providing expansive water views on our way in

Kasane airport was very new and quite impressive

We were met there and transferred by Safari vehicle to the NP..

..and 20 minutes on, passing our first buffalo of this trip..

...to Chobe Game Lodge

The lodge is quite large (47 rooms) and hotel style...

...but beautifully decorated in a moorish style.

Welcome drinks of course..

..then off to our room..

...again very beautifully decorated..

We went off exploring the lodge..

...even finding a largish shop..

..and a nice pool.

It was lunchtime, and for the time in Botswana, a là carte dining..

...with a surprise, but very enthusiastic song and dance show

Our remaining activity was an evening boat cruise on the river.

Reed cormorants

Another water monitor

A water thick knee

A hamerkop

A black crowned lapwing

White faced whistling ducks

Elephants having a swim

Warthogs down for a drink

A well posed darter

Plus as evening fell..

..sunset drinks!!
