Loire vineyards

WWe headed south-west out of Angers to Savennieres the Loire river.

First stop was Behaurd, a lovely village on an island in the Loire. This was one of those signs!  - Except in times of flood, the village can be visited on foot! Suck eggs!

It was a nice walk in..

They left us in no doubt it flooded

It was very quaint around the church

And there was a beautiful old building, now a retirement home.

Plus a lovely walk along the river

We then hit our first winery in St Lambert du Lattay

Visited the Anjou wine museum, also in St Lambert du Lattay

...with lots of old equipment

Did a second winery at Champ sur Layon...

...getting a sticky for our next foie gras meal!

..and dining at their restaurant, La Bergerie..

Lobster and pumpkin purée plus??

Cooked foie gras

Fish with puréed aubergine, tomato and a celery yogurt

Duck done some way?

A muesli bar dessert - slightly remodelled

A chocolate brownie topped with coffee ice cream in a whisky foam

Before driving back to Rennes through more Loire villages

And getting the OUIGO train back to Paris
