Next stage of the trip was Botswana, staying a three different Desert and Delta lodges. We flew from Capetown to Maun in northern Botswana..
...on an Airlink Bombardier plane..
...with excellent views of Table Mountain and the Lion as we left.
From Maun we changed to a Safari Air single prop light aircraft for the 30 minute flight to Leroo La Tau (lion's footprint) just outside Makgadikgadi National Park.
We flew over dead flat plains with roads that ran in straight lines to the horizon...
..and sparse settlements in the Kalihari sand desert
Around Maun there were lush strips along the Boteti river
We were on the mid-western side of the park
We were driven in a safari vehicle for about 20 minutes to the lodge, overlooking the Boteti river.
The 12 cabins were strung out either side of the main lodge
