Around Lochinver

Another dismal weather forecast..

...but as they say, you don’t come to Scotland for the weather, and, if you aren’t prepared to walk in the rain then you probably won’t be doing much walking. So off we went on the 3 hour Lochinver Loop

We walked for some distance through the forest along the raging Inver river

With lots of salmon fishing piers

The river flattened out..

...and we headed up a small heather and gorse filled Glen

Til we breasted a saddle and dropped down to Loch Druim Suardalain

From here we were supposed to have good views of annAssynt icon Suilven. We couldn’t see far because of the mist and rain, but this is the claimed view

A quick walk along the loch...

...got us back to town and quickly off to the famed Lochinver Pie Shop.

It was packed, so as our cottage was literally across the road we opted for takeaways. They were outstanding

It continued raining all afternoon, but we felt the need to get out so went up to Highland Pottery. Hand painted pottery, with some quirky exhibits, but we weren’t tempted

The only other “attraction” we could find was the Culag Hotel, reasonable on the outside but not even appealing enough on the inside to entice us to have a quick drink

After that we gave up and went back to the cottage for the evening.
