Beach and seals

After breakfast we drove south through Tarbert and on to South Harris Island.

Our objective was Luskentyre beach, 3 miles long and a mile wide, claimed to be one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Approaching the same

A pied piper shepherd at the back of the beach

And an original Hebredian sheep in the flock, claimed to be one of the oldest breeds in the world

The beach itself was pretty amazing

We then drove back to Tarbert via a scenic route, stopping first at a Harris Tweed/Wool shop

There was great scenery along the way

Plus some peat digging areas

We then went in to the Harris distillery for our booked tour only to find they didn’t have us on the list and the tour was full

Back home we headed down to the loch to see if we could find some seals and bag some more mussels

We found the seals

And had no problem with the mussels - the beds

- the concentrations

- in the bucket

- in the pot

- on the plate, in red wine and garlic

After dinner, we had beautiful light over the loch below the house

And it just kept on getting better
