The Trossachs

It was forecast to rain most of the day so we decided on an exploration of The Trossachs by car, with hopefully some short walks weather dependant. The Trossachs is part of the Ben Lomond Trossachs National Park.

We drove around the bottom of Loch Lomond to Aberfoyle...

..then to the Queen Elizabeth Forest Park lodge

We did combination walk of a number of trails..

...passing a waterfall..

...and spending quite a bit of time in the hide..

..to be finally rewarded with a sighting of a red squirrel, now quite rare in England, but supposedly common in Scotland

There were lots of birds also, this feeder being very popular. We saw Siskin, great spotted woodpeckers, great tits, robins, blue tits, and chaffinches

We had lunch at the lodge, a typical scene with a cryptic crossword on the go

We then drove on to the Forest Loop Drive

And doing a short loop walk along Loch Drunkie

Before completing the loop via Callander and the top of Loch Lomond
